Perfect World Entertainment have detailed the customizable Fort that players have in Torchlight III.

The blog post explains that players can earn (“unlocked early in Act I of Torchlight III. But first, you’ll have to claim your Fort from a local Goblin tribe”) and customize their own fortress.

Players can craft objects and place them freely, facing any direction, and players can even “stack them inside of each other.” 

While most of the cosmetics can be unlocked through quest rewards, “most” will be awarded from progressing through the Contract tiers (missions that offer rewards across all characters on a player’s account). “There’s even a special Contract designed to provide you with the most Fort cosmetic bang for your buck. “

Any player can also find your fort, and vice versa. Some may even allow you to enhance your characters, grow a Luck Tree (feed it items to increase item-finding luck across all your characters), or enchant gear- if the owning player has left out such facilities. Players can also show off their loot and collected items, use their own fortress to store items, or visit with party members.

Finally, Forts are per-account. So, all characters a player owns can build up the same fortress, gathering resources, recipies, upgrades, and allowing stations to be used by any of them.

Fight your way to fame and glory with your loyal companion! Each species comes in a myriad of colors and styles so don’t settle for the first one you find. Make them stronger by adding skills, equip them with gear to make them hardier, and together battle your way through enemies as a team.

Build Your Hero
With four classes to choose from, utilize class-specific mechanics to maximize your damage and your odds of survival. Gather epic gear and customize your outfit to work with your hero’s unique make-up.
