Arcade-inspired aerial combat game Top Dog announced

Top Dog

MorfeoDev has announced Top Dog, a new arcade-style aerial combat shooter.

Top Dog is the spiritual follow-up to the dev’s previous game, Afterburn. Much like its predecessor, Top Dog is all about offering a high-speed dogfighting experience with simple controls that can be played in short bursts. Survive as long as possible against waves of increasingly difficult enemy squadrons, purchasing randomized upgrades for your futuristic fighter jet between engagements.

Each run is quick to complete, and Top Dog encourages players to compete with each other for the highest score in daily leaderboard challenges. Top Dog releases sometime in 2022 for Windows PC via Steam.

You can find a rundown on the game below:

THE CORE
Dogfight against endless waves of enemies. Arcade cinematic action with a bit of simulation. Simple controls: Pitch + Yaw + Thrust + Strafe + Fire (hold for guns, tap for missiles). FPS-like control scheme for Mouse & Keyboard. Gamepad & Stick support.

THE LOOP
Rank-up and upgrade your aircraft mid-flight. Randomized waves and upgrade selection. Short runs and straight to action: no story, no cutscenes.

THE CHALLENGE
Compete against other players on the daily leaderboards. Leaderboards reset every 36 hours.

THE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum hardware requirements: all the footage here is taken from a 10 years old Intel® HD 4600.

DEVELOPMENT STATUS
The game is at a good point: core mechanics are pretty much complete and development is mostly about content creation and polishing. If you like what you see please wishlist and if you want to get all the development news please hit the ‘follow’ button above! 🙏
