Tomo-chan is a Girl! premieres in January

Tomo-chan is a Girl!

The upcoming anime adaptation of Tomo-chan is a Girl! (Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!) will premiere on January 4 as part of the Winter 2023 anime season.

Originally announced earlier this year, Tomo-chan is a Girl! follows Aizawa Tomo, a young girl in love with her childhood friend Jun. There’s just one problem, Jun can’t see Tomo as anything other than his bro. The two grew up together and Jun had no idea until they went to the same junior high and he saw Tomo wearing the girls’ uniform.

The series is the breakout hit of creator Fumita Yanagida. The series was published on Twitter before finally being compiled in volumes and released by Kodansha. The manga is released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.

The voice cast for Tomo-chan is a Girl! includes Rie Takahashi as Tomo. Takahashi is largely known for her roles as Megumin in Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World and Takagi in Teasing Master Takagi-san. Jun will be voiced by Kaito Ishikawa whose past roles includes Ingenium in My Hero Academia and Naofumi in Rising of the Shield Hero. Of note, the foreigner character Carol Olsten will be voiced by the bilingual idol Sally Amaki in both Japanese and the English dub.
