It’s been a little over two years since we last heard anything regarding Sony’s upcoming live action movie based on their popular Uncharted franchise. Now, we’ve learned (via Hollywood Reporter) that rumor is true – Tom Holland is set to star as a younger version of Nathan Drake.
The movie, which is still without an official title, was also given a premiere date – December 18th of 2020. The film has been in production for quite some time, with original director Shawn Levy departing two years ago. The film is currently helmed by 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg.
A recent draft of the screenplay adapting the Naughty Dog-developed video game is being produced by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker.
The movie was originally set to be a straight adaptation of the Uncharted series – it was later redrafted to be a prequel starring a younger Nathan Drake after Sony Pictures boss Tom Rothman saw Tom Holland as Peter Parker in Spider-Man Homecoming flick.
