Japanese developer Drecom has announced Happinet will publish Tokyo Stories, their pixelated adventure game.
Happinet has picked up publishing for the game and its development is now being co-funded by CharacterBank as part of its “Happinet Indie Collection” game label.
The adventure game started development in 2022 and was supposed to launch in 2023 for PC (via Steam), though a release date wasn’t confirmed today.
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus a new trailer:
“Tokyo Stories” is a 3D adventure game characterized by “visuals that blend pixel art and 3D.”
Multiple intertwining stories unfold against the backdrop of “a Tokyo where everyone has vanished.”
Why did the protagonist’s best friend disappear? What is this city trying to tell us? As numerous fragments come together, the truth gradually comes into focus.
Tokyo Stories Game Overview
The story begins with the protagonist, Suzu, arriving in Tokyo at night to search for her best friend, Yuno.
The game features a system where adventure segments—in which Suzu explores various locations in a deserted Tokyo to find clues about Yuno—intersect with puzzle segments set in a Tokyo that appears to be in ruins.
