Nakayoshi’s January issue has revealed that the Tokyo Mew Mew manga will return with an all-male cast; Tokyo Mew Mew Ōre.
The original Tokyo Mew Mew was a magical girl manga by Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi, running from 2000 to 2003. This led to a 52-episode anime, localized in the west by 4Kids Entertainment as Mew Mew Power. Reiko and Mia would go on to make a sequel manga Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode from 2003 to 2004.
Now the series is returning as Tokyo Mew Mew Ōre. Ōre being a play on words for “Ore” (informal Japanese for the male “I”), Olé (the Japanese literal translation of the Spanish word), and “au lait” (French for “with milk”).
This new manga will be created by Madoka Seizuki and Kodansha, and will launch with a 62 page chapter with color opening page.
Tokyo Mew Mew Ōre will debut in 2020.
