• Toei Tokusatsu World Official Youtube Channel Removed by Accident, Restored

    Toei Company recently began the “Toei Tokusatsu World Official” Youtube channel but it was quickly removed after a barrage of copyright claims.

    What makes the removal and reinstatement of the channel interesting is that the copyright claims likely came from Toei Company themselves. Twitter user “ZaGorudan” was quick to notice the channel’s removal, and also point out the irony; Toei Company is known for strict enforcement of using copyright claims on Youtube.

    Toei Tokusatsu World Official was started in order to stream older Tokusatsu (Special Filming) series to western audiences. The most commonly known Tokusatsu series in the west, the Power Rangers franchise is based off of and recycles footage from Toei’s Super Sentai series.

    The channel has been restored along with all recent uploads. While for a few hours Twitter users got to poke fun at the channel’s removal, Toei Tokusatsu World Official will be available for western audiences to watch shows such as Captain Ultra, Inazuman, and Robot 8-chan.
