Todd Howard Further Teases Skyrim on Nintendo Switch

the elder scrolls v skyrim 11-03-15-3

Skyrim director Todd Howard has continued teasing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch.

In an interview with Glixel, Howard talked up Skyrim running on the new Nintendo console. “It’s the same game on the TV and on the other screen,” Howard said.

He also talked up a hands-on demo he received of the console at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. “I love it. I got to play it,” he said. “… One of the best demos I’ve ever seen. Probably the best demo I’ve ever seen. At E3.”

It’s worth mentioning that while Skyrim was prominently shown in the Nintendo Switch reveal, Bethesda hasn’t officially confirmed the game’s release on the console. That hasn’t stopped Todd from praising the console, though. “I think it’s really smart what they’re doing [with Nintendo Switch],” Howard said.

Bethesda is officially supporting the console, however. “We’re definitely going to be supporting it. It’s the first time we’ve done something on Nintendo — if you don’t count the old NES stuff,” Howard said.

We’ll be seeing more information for Nintendo’s console on January 12th in a new video showcase.

Could this mean we’ll finally see a Bethesda game on a Nintendo console? Sound off in the comments with your expectations!

“It’s the same game on the TV and on the other screen”
The same boring main quests, the same boring landscape, the same lack of choices, the same horrendous UI, the same imbalance of difficulty, the same bugs & glitches.
    Now on the Nintendo Switch.

By the way it was exactly like this with the transition from Skyrim to the Special Edition with the only difference in there (if you can even really call it that) is that the saturation or something was turned up. Literally everything else was the same game.

Sweet little lies. Besides, you think Sony was bad with the Skyrim Special Edition modding debacle? Wait until Nintendo closes that system up like a nun on Sunday.

If Todd Howard lies in the forest and no one is around to hear it, will people still fall for it?

At this point they should confirm it. Nintendo preventing devs to promote their games before the release of the NS is a stupid decision.

Yeah, I don’t know who on this hellscape we call the current gaming industry hasn’t yet played Skyrim of all games… and actually wants to do it at this point, on a Nintendo platform of all places, where it’s least likely to get mods and other enhancements. I guess the idea is that if you’re branching into the very enclosed Nintendo ecosystem, you actually have a chance to find some people that somehow don’t know what Bethesda games are at all so you can sell more copies of Elder Scrolls to them.

I don’t even know *how* Skyrim still makes headlines to this day despite being five years old at this point. I guess Todd would never let it go as long as it’s even remotely profitable to try and push more copies out.

That was a conspiracy theory drummed up by desperate Pretendos trying to find SOMETHING to hate about the Switch.

    It obviously isn’t true.

That was completely born of Jewtendo disallowing Bethesda from officially announcing the game shown front and centre in the NX reveal and the fact that it was all pre-rendered footage not even running on the NX.

Well it was in the trailer so it’s strange to think the game would not be on the Switch. Besides whit all the hype the game got for the Switch it will likely sell really well and it would be pretty dumb for Bethesda not to release it, it would even be reasonable for them to consider porting more of their ip:s.
And yeah, meaby even Nintendo helped make the game better or something, who knows. They done it whit many other games before so.

I don’t believe so. Super Mario Maker can be played using only the parameters Nintendo gave to the player. The player cannot screw with the code, obviously.

Plus, any time a fan-made game is released automatically sets their copyright hounds to hunt mode.

Sony had Bethesda by the balls on that. Bethesda thought lying and blaming the problem on Sony would force Sony’s hand and have them wave their Quality Control demands. Sony stood firm and it became obvious that Bethesda was going to get sued for promising something it didn’t deliver. The kind of sued where they’d have to reimburse a huge chunk of their sales.

They went sniveling back to Sony and asked if they could have that original deal of no new assets. Sony probably dropped their pants and asked what was in it for them. Next were hear: Pro support for Skyrim and Fallout 4 and I’ll bet Sony gets advertisement rights to the next Fallout or Elder Scrolls game.

That’s what being stupid gets you.

The reveal that they did leave many important questions unanswered and Nintendo are doing a complete information blackout. People just have speculation about the system that is pretty far from being released. So the entire reveal was pointless and the secret launch line-up isn’t making things better.

Customers want to be informed on what they are going to buy – there is no point in keeping secrets, especially after the Wii U’s failure.
