Tinder User Recreates Opening to Skyrim as a Text RPG

The opening for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is so iconic that it has passed into the world of legends, and as a meme it has aged like fine wine. An enterprising dating app user has apparently taken it upon himself to proposition potential dates with a text-based recreation of the game’s opening moments.

Reddit user Gmtom posted screenshots of a Tinder exchange they’ve titled “Tinder RPG.” The exchange is between a user, Tom, (which is probably the same Reddit user), and an unknown user where they can pick between various options in the text-based RPG.

The clever setup here is the user basically fills the holes in leading up to the Skyrim protagonist being arrested, as the game begins with you waking up and in the custody of the Imperial Legion for a crime you’re never really told about.

The adventure progresses with the adventurer going to a river where they try fishing with their sword, only to go and hide from an enemy, and eventually you get swept away in the current. You then wake up in a cart full of other prisoners, en route to Helgen. The adventure then ends with:

“Hey, you, you’re finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there”.
