Thriller Game “Get Even” Postponed Following Manchester Islamic Terror Attack

Bandai Namco and Polish studio The Farm 51 have postponed the release of their upcoming first-person thriller, Get Even. The decision to delay the game comes in light of the Islamic terror attack that went down in Manchester, England, last night.

The game was set to launch in two days, on May 25th – only to now be pushed roughly a month back on June 23rd. The push makes sense considering the game stars an “ice-cold mercenary and hired gun” that has to relive his memories, the focus being a rescue attempt of a teenage girl with a bomb strapped to her chest.

“Given recent events & out of respect we have decided to postpone Get Even to June 23 2017,” the studio said. “We would like to express our deepest condolences.”

The identified perpetrator (thanks, NY Times) from the attack, Salman Abedi, set off a home-made bomb, killing at least 22 and injuring dozens more. A neighbor of Abedi said that his mother taught the Quran, and had been abroad for around two months. ISIS is naturally claiming responsibility for the attack.

Coming from, releasing a game with terrorism-like themes so close to a devastating attack like this just doesn’t make sense. If you’re looking to help the families affected by the attack, the Manchester Evening News is currently raising funds for their support.

Here’s a brief rundown on the game:

Black – an ice-cold mercenary and hired gun – awakes in a mysterious old asylum with no memory of his past.
Under the guidance of his anonymous captor, ‘Red’, Black embarks on a form of treatment, facilitated by a unique technology – a headset that allows the user to relive their memories and experience them again in the present.
And so Black tries to remember.
With the help of the ‘Pandora’ headset, he travels into the depths of his own mind to explore the truth behind the only thing he can remember: the rescue attempt of a teenage girl with a bomb strapped to her chest.

Once released, Get Even will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
