Developed by Canadian studio Riyo Games, upcoming turn-based RPG Threads of Time made another appearance during Day of the Devs, this time spotlighting The Needle, a massive timeship that serves as the player’s gateway across different eras.
The adventure takes you from prehistoric lands filled with dinosaurs to medieval kingdoms, futuristic cyberpunk cities, and even apocalyptic timelines. Along the way, you’ll recruit heroes from different ages and work to rebuild the legendary Order of the Time Knights while uncovering a threat that spans past, present, and future.
Combat embraces classic JRPG roots but adds modern flair through time-bending abilities, powerful combo attacks, and flashy team-based skills. Visually, the game combines detailed pixel art characters with 2.5D environments built in Unreal Engine 5.
One of the more interesting aspects is how time travel directly affects the world. Your actions in one era can influence events in another, opening the door to alternate outcomes and new discoveries as the story unfolds. Here’s the new trailer:
Threads of Time is currently planned for PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S, though a release date has not been announced yet.
