THQ Nordic and Koch Media Trade Ownership of Several IPs; Risen, Sacred, Red Faction, and More

THQ Nordic Koch Media

THQ Nordic and Koch Media have announced they have transferred ownership of several IPs to one another, including Risen, Sacred, Red Faction, and more.

The news comes in a press release (via email), stating several changes in THQ Nordic and Koch Media’s portfolios, switching ownership and publishing rights of several IPs.

Koch Media has transferred Risen, Sacred, Rush for Berlin, Second Sight, and Singles: Flirt Up Your Life to THQ Nordic. Regarding the new acquisitions, THQ Nordic had high praise for several titles, and hinted at evaluating a new project immediately.

“The warmest of welcomes to Risen, (now THQ Nordic unifies all Piranha Bytes titles under one roof), Sacred (some of us invested more time than they would like to admit), Rush for Berlin, Second Sight and Singles: Flirt Up your Life. Evaluations on remasters, ports, potential sequels & new content etc. will start right away. We have something in mind already.”

THQ Nordic however has given Red Faction, and Painkiller to Koch Media. THQ Nordic offered a fond farewell to those IPs.

Farewell, Painkiller!
Hell & Damnation was just an all around awesome project to work on. It is hard to believe that it was already 8 years ago for Daniel Garner and actually marked our (then: Nordic Games) first big title. What we had was truly special and although we made a lot of mistakes, we also did a lot of really awesome stuff when we published you. Unfortunately, though, today marks the day where we will let you go. We know you will get a lot of love in your new home.

Farewell, Red Faction!
We loved working on Re-Mars-tered (yes, we do have a certain reputation for corny names for remasters, and we are damn proud of it), but the time has come to put our sledgehammers on the shelf. Live long and prosper!”

Major recent and upcoming projects for THQ Nordic include Desperados III, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, Destroy All Humans!, Biomutant, and DLC for Titan Quest and Remnant: From the Ashes.

Recent and upcoming titles for Koch Media (under Deep Silver and Ravenscourt) include Wasteland 3, Iron Harvest, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, and Ash of Gods: Redemption.

Ravenscourt may also have been involved with the infamous Cooking Mama: Cookstar [1, 2, 3], though the nature of that game blurs what was approved or not. The Cooking Mama IP holders (Office Creates) insisting Planet Entertainment produced the game without their permission. Racenscourt’s logo appeared box art for a PlayStation 4 version of the game, which was never released.
