This Week in Warhammer – Thousand Sons and Grey Knights Galore

Warhammer 40000

Games Workshop have previewed the Warhammer pre-orders coming this weekend; mostly consisting of the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights being brought up to 9th Edition standards.

As with all Sunday previews, Games Workshop released a recap video discussing some of the upcoming releases, as well as the kind of articles and content fans can expect to find this week on the Warhammer Community site and official Warhammer TV Twitch channel. You can find it below.

The big release of the week is Hexfire; the upcoming Thousand Sons vs Grey Knights boxed set that was teased for months and finally fully revealed last week.

This boxed set is a good way for two players to start or expand their collections, and features the new Thousand Sons Infernal Master leading 5 Scarab Occult Terminators, 10 Tzaangors, and a Tzaangor Shaman against a new Castellan Crowe model, 10 Grey Knights, and a Nemesis Dreadknight.

Of course you’ll need updated rules to go along with your new models, and both the Thousand Sons and Grey Knights are getting their 9th Edition codices alongside the Hexfire box. As with all codex releases, these will come in both standard and limited edition formats, and will be accompanied by the usual accessories like dice and datacards.

Moving on, Bloodbowl is getting a small release as well, which consists of the Team Card Pack and dice set for the Shambling Undead team, as well as a pitch and dugout set to match them.

Forge World are releasing new models for the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game‘s Garrison of Dale faction in the form of the Knights of Dale, King Brand, and Prince Bard II.

Rounding out the list of upcoming releases are a whole host of novels from Black Library.

Deathwatch: The Long Vigil is an anthology of short stories about the Deathwatch on their endless mission to purge xeno threats to the Imperium. Darkness in the Blood by Guy Haley follows Commander Dante and Chief Librarian Mephiston in the Imperium Nihilus after the Fall of Cadia and formation of the Great Rift. Finally, Robert Rath’s The Infinite and The Divine will finally be available in paperback.

The final installments in Black Library’s YA series Warhammer Adventures: Warped Galaxies and Warhammer Adventures: Realm Quest will be released in the forms of Tomb of the Necron by Cavan Scott and Battle for the Soulspring by Tom Huddleston.

In addition, the Warhammer Crime series gets a new anthology called Broken City, consisting of a novella and six short stories.

All of these items will be available for preorder August 7th, and will get a full release the following Saturday on the 14th.

Throughout the week, the Warhammer Community site will run articles teasing rules from the upcoming Thousand Sons and Grey Knights codices, new model reveals, and the Warhammer TV Twitch channel will run a variety of hobby streams.
