Games Workshop have previewed the latest releases coming in the week ahead, including Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
As with every Sunday Preview, there is a quick recap trailer giving a brief rundown of the upcoming preorders, as well as the various articles and daily Warhammer TV livestreams for the week ahead.
The next round of preorders, while light in number, are nevertheless pretty huge. The highly anticipated board game Warhammer Quest: Cursed City will finally be available for purchase soon. Continuing the trend of other Warhammer Quest games, players can team up in a miniatures-based dungeon crawling board game packed full of awesome models.
Cursed City follows a band of eight heroes trapped within the walls of Ulfenkarn, a once peaceful city that was overthrown by a ruthless vampire lord named Radukar the Wolf and his undead minions. Players will find themselves fighting their way through hordes of undead creatures in the streets and buildings of Ulfenkarn, as they try to liberate the city from its court of bloodthirsty vampiric overlords.
The board game comes with 8 playable heroes and 42 enemies that represent a menagerie of skeletons, zombies, giant bats, vampires, and other horrific creatures of the night. The box will also include all the books, cards, tokens, dice, gameboards, and other accessories required to play through its lengthy campaign.
As an added bonus, every model in the box can be used in Age of Sigmar, with a booklet containing all the relevant warscrolls to add the game’s heroes and villains to your armies. It should be noted that the undead citizens of Ulfenkarn represent the first taste players can sample of the upcoming Soulblight Gravelords Death faction.
All of the game’s hostiles have the relevant keywords and allegiances needed to be fielded in a Soulblight Gravelords army; making the box a good place for potential players to get a head start collecting the faction before they release sometime later this year.
Warhammer Quest: Cursed City is accompanied by a new novel from Black Library. Cursed City by C L Werner follows the exploits of the game’s adventurers as they fight against Radukar the Wolf and his undead army. The book also includes an exclusive warscroll for a 9th playable “hero,” Morrvahl Olbrecht, a wandering Battlemage that practices the dark arts.
Players can add Morrvahl Olbrecht to their games by picking up the existing Battlemages set, and using the creepy guy with the scythe to represent him in the field.
The Cursed City novel also has a limited edition version with a fancy cover and an extra short story. This version of the book is limited to 1250 copies.
That’s all for this week’s upcoming Games Workshop preorders and This Week in Warhammer news. Warhammer Quest: Cursed City and its companion novel will be available for preorder on April 3rd, and will hit stores the following week.
