A complaint that I’ve heard from other Playstation 4 owners is that the Dualshock 4 has paltry battery life in comparison to its older brother, the Dualshock 3.
Many users have attributed this to the giant LED light bar, which runs constantly when the controller is activated. Sony shot that assumption down, however it didn’t stop an entrepreneuring PS4 owner from creating his own external battery.
Justin Gaskin is a Playstation 4 owner who decided to take the life of his Dualshock 4’s battery into his own hands, creating an external battery pack from a few supplies. The battery pack holds 3 rechargeable batteries that can power the controller.

The battery pack can be toggled on and off with a simple switch, instructing the controller to utilize the battery pack while the internal one is being recharged, or simply for the ability to use it for awhile before having to recharge it via USB.
