Tired of waiting for Team Ico’s The Last Guardian? It’s been a wait comparable to what seems like a good portion of my adult life, and yet the game is still nowhere to be found.
Thankfully, you’ll soon have an Ico inspired game, which is due out in early 2015 on PC, Mac, and Playstation 4. Dubbed simply “Toren”, the game has been in development by Brazilian-based indie studio Swordtales, and published by indie publisher Versus Evil. Featured above, you can view a gorgeous (albeit outdated) trailer for the game.
The dark fantasy puzzle game is a journey about “growth, discovery, and overcoming great hurdles.” The experience within Toren is described as an “introspective and captivating journey to explore deep concepts and existential questions.” The player will view firsthand the birth and upbringing of a poor, lonely girl named Moonchild. Your task is to guide her and help her master the power of a tower called Toren.
Swordtales producer Vitor Severo Leães divulged his enthusiasm to finally be able to bring the game to both home computers and Playstation 4, in their publishing partner Versus Evil:
“We’re very excited to be teaming up with Versus Evil. Toren is the biggest project of our lives and we have been independently developing it for three years. A big concern for us was finding a publishing partner for the game, one that understood how we operated and had the experience to help us launch the game successfully. We found the ideal partner in Versus Evil and are looking forward to working closely with them.”
For now, you can oogle the game’s trailer, or visit its official website here.
