Sony has revealed some interesting news – their upcoming smartphone, the Xperia Z3, is coming with Remote Play support, via the Playstation 4.

The addition of Remote Play support to the Xperia Z3 makes the device the first smartphone to be able to stream Playstation games. Alongide the announcement that the Z3 would support remote play was the Z3 Tablet Compact being able to do the same thing, albeit with a much larger form factor:

Here’s the caveat though – Sony is making the full disclosure that in its current state – Remote Play between a Playstation 4 and an Xperia Z3 or Z3 Tablet Compact will only be reliable/possible on the same wifi network.

Coming from this, you’d unfortunately have to be in the same house/room/etc pending your wifi signal, although they said that it’s theoretically possible to utilize the connection via an internet connection. You’ll also have to pair your Dualshock 4 to the device, which is made a lot easier with the bracket mount that will be sold separately.

I currently own the first generation Xperia Z (and love it), so I won’t be upgrading any time soon. However, are any of you dear readers considering picking up the device, even just for this purpose?
