The Kickstarter for The Wonderful 101: Remastered has reaised over $2 million USD. It has also entered its final 24 hours of crowdfunding.
The game had been announced February 3rd, and undertaking a Kickstarter campaign. As of this time of writing, the Kickstarter has earned over 215 million yen (est. over $2 million USD). The original goal was 5.425 million yen (est. $50,785 USD).
This has now achieved the stretch goal of “Luka’s Second Mission.” While $1.5 million USD earned a 2D side-scrolling adventure staring Luka, this “second mission” may imply one more stage, or one more adventure of multiple stages.
The next stretch goal will be at $2.25 million USD. This will result in a full orchestra re-recording of “The Won-Stoppable Wonderful 100” (the game’s main theme), and “Tables Turn” (an abridged version of the main theme that typically plays when the final blow are dealt to bosses). The only remaining stretch goal after that is additional language support (at $2.5 million USD).
In addition, the “Defense of Blossom City” social media campaign has achieved stretch goals of their own. The “final mission” asks for The Wonderful 101 cosplay, posted under the #Allfor101 and #cosplay hashtags. The reward for at least five pieces of cosplay? “Kamiya unblocks everyone!”
This is no doubt in reference to Director Hideki Kamiya’s frequency of blocking those who annoy him on Twitter. Kamiya even joked (we hope) about blocking the official Platinum Games Twitter account! One of the (optional) backer rewards is even to be blocked by Kamiya on Twitter.
The final week will also include a closing stream. Hosted by Fraser Agar of “Video Games Awesome“, the stream begins March 6th at 8 a.m. PST (11 a.m. EST). It promises “laughs, surprises, and some very awesome special guests!”
The Wonderful 101: Remastered launches May 19th (in North America), May 22nd (in Europe), and June 11th (in Japan), on Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
