Original Story:
Platinum Games have announced the Kickstarter campaign for The Wonderful 101: Remastered.
Earlier today, we reported on Platinum Games’ supposed next game, “Platinum 4.” It seems the 4 was in fact for four projects, one of them being the Kickstarter for The Wonderful 101: Remastered.
Stretch goals thus far include a Switch version of the game at $50,000, a Steam version at $500,000, and a PlayStation 4 version at $500,000. Other backer rewards were hinted at.
Those who support the game can earn rewards, including “Get Blocked by Kamiya,” after he sends a tweet. This is due to Director Hideki Kamiya’s infamy for quickly blocking annoying users on Twitter. THis reward is noted to be optional.
Other rewards include:
- A digital or physical version of the game
- A keychain, a sticker set
- A replica Centinels Identification Card
- A replica Wonder-Pendant
- A T-Shirt
- A digital or physical comic
- An acrylic diorama
- A soft cover artbook (with your name honored in the “thank you” segment)
- An “abridged” digital or physical soundtrack
- The full 5 disc soundtrack & digital download
- A vinyl record
- Wonderful Keshi figures
- Custom hand-painted controllers
- A replica Super Platinum Trophy
- A replica Wonder-Mask
- A replica Wonder-Red Jacket
- A Framed Button Display
- A 12″ Wonder-Red Figure

It was also mentioned in the Kickstarter’s description, those who receive a physical copy of the game can have a Kickstarter-exclusive cover.
In addition, the campaign is running a “Defense of Blossom City” social media campaign. One member of the Wonderful Team will join for every 500 people who tweet via a special link. With the first goal at 1010 tweets, future goals will unlock more rewards.
The FAQ page explains how Platinum Games seeks to “not only to bring The Wonderful 101 to a wider audience on a variety of platforms, but also to add some content that will enhance the experience even more!”
The FAQ page also explains “once additional content and modes have been created, backers will receive all of in the form of FREE DLC.” This may indicate additional content from stretch goals could be paid DLC for everyone else.
Addressing the investment from Tencent in January 2020, the FAQ page explains “Although PlatinumGames has recently received a capital investment from an outside firm, our plans for The Wonderful 101: Remastered precede that agreement, and capital received from the investment will not be used to fund the development costs associated with the project.”
Finally, the FAQ page states that while Nintendo Switch, Steam, and PlayStation 4 are what the Kickstarter is “concentrated” on, “if this campaign is successful enough to allow us the flexibility to port the game on additional platforms, we’d love to make it happen.”
As of this time of writing, the game has already achieved its Kickstarter goal within an hour of the campaign launching. With a goal of 5,425,000 Yen (est. $49,900 USD), the Kickstarter has achieved over 16 million Yen (est. $147,168 USD) from over 2000 backers. The Kickstarter still has 31 days to go.
