Netflix has shared The Witcher season 2 trailer, giving the first full look at the highly-anticipated second season of their live action take on Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher.
While the original The Witcher Netflix live-action series premiered back in December 2019, various delays have struck production on its second season – mostly due to COVID-19.

While trying to avoid spoilers, the first season jumped around various timelines quite a bit and ended with both Geralt and Ciri fighting a massive Nilfgaard army. The second season, judging by its new trailer, will drop the multiple timelines and focus instead on introducing other witchers.
Filming for the series’ second season was completed back in April of this year, but as mentioned earlier was frequently delayed due to COVID-19. Netflix halted production on all their shows and films earlier in 2020, with production kicking off again later in summer 2020. Despite this, staff tested positive for COVID, thus delaying production and shooting from being completed.
In related news, the next-generation ports for both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition and Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 were both delayed into 2022 – read more about that here in our previous report.
The Witcher season 2 premieres on December 17, via Netflix.
