Netflix has announced the new The Witcher anime movie premieres August 23, alongside the reveal of a brand new trailer for the adaptation.
The January 2020-announced The Witcher anime movie premieres August 23 and acts as a prequel to the main story that focuses on Geralt of Rivia.
Here’s the new trailer:
As mentioned earlier, the new animated film focuses on Vesemir, a veteran witcher of Kaer Morhen who later becomes the mentor to Geralt of Rivia. While the above teaser trailer didn’t show off much of Vesemir yet, he is much younger and the movie takes place many years before Geralt’s story.
The animated movie was produced by Studio Mir, the South Korean company known for The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender, and more. The live-action adaptation for The Witcher writers Lauren S. Hissrich and Beau DeMayo are also on board as writers.
