The Witch and the Hundred Knight Revival Developed for PS4, Gets a Date in Japan

In the wake of the game’s “leak” and confirmation, Nippon Ichi Software have cemented a few more details about The Witch and the Hundred Knight Revival, their Playstation 4 port of last year’s Disgaea-like action RPG, The Witch and the Hundred Knight.

This version of the game is being developed for the PS4 home console, and will launch in Japan on September 25 this year. NIS have also released the first comparison screenshots from the ARPG, which you can see below; the first is from the PS4 port, and the second is from the PS3 version of the game. The most noticeable improvements are to lighting and resolution.

No plans for a Western release have been announced yet.

    Diminishing returns, man.
I hope the framerate and picture clarity help make up for it, as well as any fun additions they made

I see weapon sets there. That’ll be nice.
Hopefully moving through unexplored portions of the maps don’t burn through Gcals quite so fast this time, I’d rather not spend so much time guiding Wikuk around to clear things up to avoid the burn again.

Two gameplay changes I know of so far:
Weapon sets, so by the looks of it how you’ll be fighting can be much more varied. Especially if you’re permitted to switch set mid-combo.
Playable Metallia according to the article on Gematsu.

Hopefully the Facets are expanded on. There was little reason to ever us anything but Wonder Knight main, Marginal Gaze+Shinobi Assassin subs. Marginal Gaze switched out for Noble Raptor for a bit when you need to build Karma.

PS4 huh. I’m not disappointed. Hopefully they can avoid the random crashes and overheating problems with the new system.

Metallia being playable may actually sell me. I hate the design of the Hundred Knight.

Not sure why your stating diminishing returns here. The higher resolution makes a pretty substantial difference.

Also I’m pretty sure that image is a really exaggerated/poor analysis of diminishing returns:

The addition of weapon sets, better resolution, and playable Metallia all sound like nice additions/improvements. I will need to here a lot more details before I decide if its worth buying or not though.
