The Wii U Version of Project Cars has Been Cancelled

project-CARS-recenzja

We have just learned (via Nintendo Life), that Slightly Mad Studios have cancelled Project Cars for the Wii U.

Announced that the game would launch much later than the Xbox One and PS4 versions, the game was cancelled due to the hardware limitations of the Wii U. Similarly, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game were also abandoned halfway through development.

Quote from Ian Bell, head of the studio:

The official line is that we’re awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware. As of now pCARS is simply too much for the Wii U.

This suggests that the game would have continued development provided new hardware from Nintendo was announced.

We’ll have to see if they’ll continue development with the announcement of the Nintendo NX.
