The Weird Story of Waldemar, the Warlock is an intriguing one, a very unique and strangely compelling story that is meant to be played through a classic point and click adventure game. Developed by Spanish developer enComplot, it promises to bring excellent writing, true horror, and a dash of black humor.

While the game has been on Kickstarter for a little while now, enComplot has made a playable demo of the game available, which you can download here. Not only does the art direction shine and evoke a dark, twisted Victorian era feel, but the voice over work for protagonist Alistair Ainsworth is simply spectacular, as seen in the Kickstarter pitch shown above.

The gist of The Weird Story of Waldemar the Warlock is as such: Alistair is the epitome of a bored, painfully wealthy Victorian era lord who becomes obsessed with the occult. Instead of collecting books like a normal person, he decides to devote his work to a fabled necromancer, the very same Waldemar in the game’s title. After setting up shop in his long abandoned castle, both Alistair and his servant are quick to find that not all is as it seems, and that they may be in danger.

There will be lots of different environments, and loads of objects for you to interact with, all of which having unique responses from Alistair and the other characters. Instead of having one specific ending to the entire story, there are currently two methods of solving the mystery planned, both with completely different story arcs, puzzles, and scenarios as well.

As mentioned before, the game is currently up on Kickstarter, and they’re roughly a fourth of the way to their funding goal. The Weird Story of Waldemar, the Warlock is also up on Steam Greenlight, so please check that out as well.
