Straight from a Japanese source, this is a hastily translated list of some of the coming features in Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires, confirming what’s already been said and a few more interesting things.
- Players will be able to choose an officer, rise through the ranks, get married, have kids, take high ranking positions, and your kids can grow up to succeed you.
- Praise and slander your allies and rivals, like an officer-oriented Romance of the Three Kingdoms where you could curry favor with the boss or spread rumors to weaken a rival’s position.
- Enemy spawn bases from past Empires games are still in.
- Time and weather now have an effect on the flow of battle. Fire ploys will be more effective during windy conditions, but if performed at night they will be less effective because the enemy force will spot the fire and work faster to diminish its effects.
- Create-a-Warrior is further updated with the inclusions of facial features like wrinkles and beards. You’ll be able to color our armor by individual pieces rather than blanket coloring.
- There seems to be some kind of automatic successor feature as time goes on, where NPCs can marry and have kids and those kids will enter the force.
- As mentioned before, edit your soldiers, flags, bases, horses, and equipped weapons.
- You’ll now be able to upload your created content to a server where other people will be able to download it.
- Online co-op will be available.
- There will be two demos: “Joint Struggle” and “Edit”. Joint Struggle will come out the day of release and let you play a battle online with a friend, Edit will come out before release and let you create an officer and test them out like in DW7: Empires. Your Edit data will carry over into the final version.
As an avid Dynasty Warriors player, I’m looking forward to this. Compared to previous Empires versions in Omega Force’s series, is this just what you wanted to see?
