    The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now the second highest grossing animated film of all time.

    According to recent box office numbers, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has reached almost $1.3 billion USD at the global box office. This means the movie has officially beaten out Disney megahit Frozen.

    Now the only animated film above Mario is Frozen 2 which sits at approximately $1.45 billion USD; and technically also the “live-action” The Lion King (who cares).

    The Super Mario Bros. Movie is also the highest grossing film of 2023 so far, beating out Guardians of the Galaxy 3 by nearly $500 million.
