There’s a bit of a virtual reality renaissance going on right now between the Oculus Rift, the Virtuix Omni and now the STEM System. With all three systems you’ll be completely immersed within a game world.
So what does the STEM System do differently from what we’ve seen before? The STEM controller is a 1:1 motion controlling system that will let you directly interact with your environment, with the lowest amount of latency of any consumer product.
With STEM, you’ll be able to put individual trackers on your feet and waist, combined with the trackers in the handsets, giving you total control over your body, enabling you to lean around corners, pick up objects, and so on. If you’ve used the Razer Hydra, these are the same guys who developed that nice piece of kit.
You can view their kickstarter below:
The guys behind STEM are even working with NASA’s Human Interfaces Group to provide a complete simulation of walking on the surface of Mars. In this simulation, you’ll also be able to interface with the Martian rover.
Although their kickstarter is over, soon you’ll be able to preorder the STEM system from their store, which you can see here.
