The Sims 4 releases new and inclusive character options

The Sims 4

EA Games has announced a set of new character options in an update for The Sims 4 with the intention of providing more inclusive options for players.

The new options include “Medical Wearables”, a new class of items which at the time of writing includes hearing aids which can go in either ear, or both at the same time.

Characters can also attach a glucose monitor to either of their arms or to their abdomen, this option is found under the body settings.

Other added options include Top Surgery scars for male Sims, chest binders, and lower body shapewear. You can read the highlights from the latest The Sims 4 patch below.

The Sims 4 Patch

Medical Wearables

There’s a new Medical Wearables category under Body and Face Accessories in Create a Sim.

Select the Sims face and then select Accessories to find the Medical Wearables category that contains a new hearing aid for your Toddler or older Sims. This medical wearable comes in fifteen color variants, and can be assigned to your Sims right, left or both ears.

The Medical Wearables category can also be found by selecting the Sims body and then selecting the Body category. Here you can find Glucose Monitors for your Child and older Sims that can be added to your Sims right and left arm, and to your Sims lower abdomen on the right or left side as well.

Top Surgery Scar

Under the same Body category, all players can find a Body Scars category with an option for Teen and older male Sims (masculine or feminine frame) to add a Top Surgery Scar to their Sims.

Binders and Shapewear

With this update, players can find two new assets in Create a Sim. Under the Tanks, in the Tops category, you will find a Binder top asset for your Teen and older Sims. In the Underwear category for Bottoms, there is a new shapewear asset for your Sims as well!

Another addition this patch includes light switches, a small detail that has often been requested. The lack of visible light switches in The Sims 4 has impacted the immersion of some fans who have asked for them in order to make more realistic homes.

The base game for The Sims 4 recently went free to play and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Origin/EA App).
