Blazing Griffin has announced that the classic mod turned game, The Ship, is getting an HD re-release sometime next year. The game, initally starting out as a Source Mod with a playable concept in Half Life 2, was originally released in 2006 and developed by Outerlight studios.
Set in 1920’s on a massive, luxury cruise liner, the game plays as a murder/assassination style game. Players are secretly given order to stalk a particular target. In other games, this seems easy enough, but the trick here is not to blow your cover as you are on a massive ship in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by other sea-faring guests.
Blazing Griffin initially had a Kickstarter campaign for a continuing sequel to the original game. However despite best efforts, it did not succeed. The team hopes that re-releasing an HD version, complete with HD textures, will spark an interest in the game. The team has even recruited lead programmer, Jason Kocemba to assist in the development of this version. Jason was responsible for the mod and the first release of the game in 2006.
Look for The Ship HD some time next year, on PC.
