Publisher 3goo and developer Dimps announced a release window for the modern re-release of The Rumble Fish 2.
The Rumble Fish 2 is launching sometime in winter 2022 on newly confirmed platforms – Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Here’s a new story trailer:
The Rumble Fish 2 will be a faithful port of Dimps’s classic fighter, keeping all the details that fans enjoyed from the visual aesthetic to the smooth limb-based model animations of the 2D sprites.
Along with this port, the team wanted to include a few upgrades to ensure that The Rumble Fish 2 will appeal to both the casual and hardcore fighting game fans. Some of these changes are visual, the game will be releasing with widescreen support, using a 16:9 presentation to bring a modernized flair to the game’s impressive graphics and animation.
The Rumble Fish 2 will also have a practice mode to allow players to train themselves before they hop into online play against other players with the introduction of online play with rollback netcode, something that the developers say is an absolute necessity for high-tier play.
“The Rumble Fish 2 has been a popular game in Japanese arcades for many years, and tournaments are still occasionally organized by the community,” 3goo president Nicolas Di Costanzo said in a press release. “Its longevity speaks to the great work that the developer Dimps’ has done with the game, thanks to their two decades of experience in fighting game design.”
He added, “The Dimps team created extended battle systems and offered players an infinite number of strategies, which is something the community absolutely loves. Here at 3goo, our mission was to expand on this popular title by bringing it to console platforms and introduce great features the game has to offer to console players, such as online PvP mode and a place to properly learn combos and greatly look forward to its release. We also hope that fans of the franchise will be excited about a few more surprise announcements we will have before the release, so stay tuned!”
