With the metaverse picking up steam and more in the gaming industry attempting to adopt the tech, it appears gaming giant The Pokemon Company is also hoping to embrace the tech.
A recent job listing (initially found by Twitter user @pory_leeks) indicates that The Pokemon Company is looking to hire someone with a “deep knowledge and understanding of Web 3, including blockchain technologies and NFT, and/or metaverse”.
Pokémon company posted a job opening that encompasses Blockchain, NFT’s and Web3 technologies.

This listing was confirmed by going to Greenhouse.io, where the company posts all their job listings. The location states the job is for the Bellevue branch in Washington state, meaning this will likely have nothing to do with developer Game Freak, who are responsible for the mainline Pokemon game series.
This job listing is no guarantee of their involvement with blockchain technology. While The Pokemon Company is interested, a project would take time if they’re only just searching for someone to take a leadership role and they’ll likely want to experiment to see if they wish to go this route.
That said, they would far from be the first among the gaming industry to indicate interest in blockchain or NFTs. Square Enix, Ubisoft, and Konami are among the few major publishers looking towards implementing the tech into their businesses.
Meanwhile, other such companies have wished to avoid it like how Mojang famously banned it from their popular game Minecraft.
