Viz Media has picked up the license (Thanks, Anime News Network) for the original The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past manga.

The manga, based off the original Super Nintendo game, was written and illustrated by Shotaro Ishinomori, and it’s being published under the Perfect Square imprint from Viz Media.

It’s worth noting that Ishinomori was originally commissioned to draw the manga for various issues of Nintendo Power magazine, only to be later collected into a separate release in 1993. The separate volume also comes with exclusive story arcs, as well as characters.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past manga is going to be available sometime this May.
