It’s a sad day when you learn that yet another printed magazine is going the way of the dodo, and even sadder when it’s yet another gaming magazine. We’ve learned that the Official Xbox Magazine is going to cease publication, and all of it’s U.S.A. staff are being laid off. In total, parent company Future Publishing is laying off a third of its US staff.
Now while the American branch is being essentially shuttered, the magazine will still apparently get issues made, only now it will be via their U.K. office, and by the talented folks across the pond. This may sound patriotic or something (stupid), but while it’s nice that issues will still be sent out every month, it may not feel the same as having staff based out of the USA ranting and raving about games.
Either way, it’s not cool to see people lose their jobs, especially such a large amount of talented individuals. Our condolences go out to everyone involved with the layoffs at OXM USA.
