The Long Dark Enters Full Release, First Story Content Drops August 1

Hinterland Studio has announced the full release of their survival-adventure game, The Long Dark.

The game will enter its 1.0 version on August 1st, the same day the game is finally launching on PlayStation 4. Until now, it’s been playable in early access form on PC and Xbox One.

It’s also worth mentioning that date is when the game’s long-awaited story content will launch, the first two of five episodes to be exact. The remaining episodes of “Wintermute” (the game’s first season) will follow later in 2017, and somewhat into 2018.

Featured above, you can view a new trailer showcasing the game’s full release, as well as its story content. Hinterland is promising the first two episodes will take you roughly six to ten hours to complete.

“There will be one more ‘story foundation’ Sandbox update prior to the August 1 launch, the Test Branch of which will open later this month. We’re calling this update FAITHFUL CARTOGRAPHER, and it prepares various aspects of the game for launch, including modifications to the game world, environment art updates across the entire world, an entirely new UI, several new gameplay mechanics, and general refinements to existing mechanics, as well as optimizations and hundreds of bug fixes.”

Following all the changes and content being added to the game, The Long Dark will see its price increase from $20 to $35 this month. You can find the game here on Steam.
