This morning Nintendo revealed a bold new Zelda game for the Wii U, a game that featured an expansive, open world that broke the traditions of the previous games.
However, the Link that we saw in the trailer didn’t quite seem exactly like the Link we’ve known from previous Legend of Zelda games, most notably that his garb is now blue, and his eyes are an even brighter, more piercing blue.
Things have gotten real interesting when Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma uttered the following when talking with Venturebeat:
“No one explicitly said that that was Link.”
Naturally, after this Aonuma couldn’t go into further details, but he has made a point in the past that he wished to break the traditional conventions of the Zelda series in newer games.
The Legend of Zelda on Wii U is currently set for a 2015 release.
