Despite the project not being a Nintendo-developed game, The Legend of Zelda Maker is a real thing, made entirely by one hardcore Zelda fan.

Featured above, you can view a trailer of the game’s alpha release. The biggest thing to take away from all of this is how illegal this is – to which hte creator is already prepared to make the game less of a gigantic copyright infringement.

“Nintendo will cease and desist a project like this, so in time, when I’ve got the ability to change the sprites, I will do so, and I will also add things that Zelda games don’t have to make it a somewhat unique experience,” said the developer. “Regardless, I won’t be acting like this isn’t going to be a Zelda (Maker?) clone, through and through. I’d just like to add some things that I think official Zelda games could use. This is a very early build of the game, and it does not represent what the final game will look like.”

It’s also worth mentioning that the game’s name is going to be dropped for simply Legend Maker. You can grab the DIY-adventure game via Dropbox or Mediafire.

Nintendo’s own Super Mario Maker is doing quite well for the publisher – so it’ll be interesting to see if they branch out into other DIY games based off their other franchises.
