Naughty Dog says The Last of Us Part 1 isn’t a cash grab, defends $70 price

The Last of Us Part 1

Fans who had expected to return to Naughty Dog’s iconic post-apocalypse game series for a lower price are going to be disappointed with a $70 price for The Last of Us Part 1.

Some of been asking why a remake of a game from nearly a decade ago will cost as much as a current game have been given a response via twitter by Robert Morrison, who currently works as an animator on The Last of Us Part 1.

“‘It’s just a cash grab’. Actually it’s the most meticulously built and crafted project that I have ever seen or been a part of in my entire career,” Morrison said. “The highest level of care and attention to detail possible.”

Naughty Dog announced the remake for The Last of Us back in June at the Summer Games Fest 2022.

Naughty Dog has also tweeted out some impressive side-by-side comparison shots of Tess from the Playstation 3 and Playstation 5 builds of the game which show an incredible improvement to graphical quality of the world.

I, for one, prefer the original’s art direction compared to this new Playstation 5 build, but I would be lying if I did not acknowledge that Naughty Dog knows how to make a game look beautiful.

The Last of Us Part 1 is set to launch on September 2, 2022 for Playstation 5 and PC.
