The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match is Getting Rollback Netcode on PC

The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match

SNK Corporation has announced they’re bringing rollback netcode to The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match.

The game recently had a rollback netcode beta test for the 64 bit version of the game – they’re now running a followup beta test for the 32 bit version of the game. The rollback beta will run until October 22nd, at 10 AM Pacific. The developer said the 64bit test was “a massive success.”

You can sign up for a beta test by opting into the Betas tab after right-clicking the game’s properties. If you’re running the 64bit version of the game you can still opt in as well. It’s worth reiterating that beta versions of the game can only match up with other beta players, and you can opt out later if you want.

Much like the other rollback netcode test being hosted by Arc System Works for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, rollback netcode is ideal for online fighting games in that it helps reduce latency and lag. This is especially critical for fighting games where actions made frame by frame can make the difference in winning or losing.

SNK originally released The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match for PlayStation 2 back in 2009 in Japan, and it got a worldwide release via Xbox Live Arcade in 2010. The Xbox Live Arcade port was later released for Windows PC (via Steam) in 2015.

Here’s a rundown on the game:
