We’ve learned The Joker 2 is coming, or at least some kind of sequel, by director Todd Phillips – the mastermind behind the original film.
Details are scant but Phillips shared a photo of the cover of his script for the sequel, which he’s currently titling Joker: Folie à Deux. Phillips’ co-writer Scott Silver also confirmed he’s returning as his credit was shown in the script for the sequel.
A second photo was also posted that features – you guessed it – the Joker himself, Joaquin Phoenix. It’s clear from this blatant tease that Phoenix will be returning to reprise his role in the sequel to the original, which aired back in 2019.
Here’s the post from Todd Philips:

The tentative title for The Joker 2, Folie à Deux, refers to a psychological disorder that appears indentically or similarly in two or more individuals, specifically members of one’s own family.
It remains to be seen what this could mean but the original film included heavy hints that Thomas Wayne – Bruce Wayne’s daddy – could be The Joker’s real biological father. This could also be where they inevitably introduce Batman, because what is the Joker without his primary focus of torment.
We’ll keep you guys posted regarding The Joker 2 – or whatever the film ends up being called.
