The First Episode of Life Is Strange Has a Trailer, and a Release Date

Square Enix has finally released a trailer for its episodic point-and-click, Life Is Strange, and set a date for its release.

Featured above, the video reveals a bit more of the story, intercut with gaming sites lauding the title, over an indie tune. Those of you who intend to buy the game and like to go into a story fresh may want to avoid watching the video. You’ve been warned.

The first episode of Life Is Strange will be available on January 30th, 2015, for the PC, Playstation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and One. The next episode should follow within a few weeks. That was the plan, anyway; we’ll see if it holds.

What did you think of it? Good trailer? Bad trailer? Does it make you want to buy the game?

When all the praise about a video game I see is comparing it to a movie experience I tend to roll my eyes and move along to a real game.

I actually think, for a videogame, it’s a bad trailer. If I didn’t know anything about LiS prior to watching it, I’d think it was a trailer for a movie. I spent 2 minutes waiting for gameplay and got little more than mainstream sites kissing the game’s ass.

Not going to say its good or bad without more info, however I will not pay any attention until all the episodes are released. Episodic content is too risky, especially with a new dev that only got one game under its belt. The idea sounds interesting, but the gameplay looks like it might get a little boring if all it is, is quicktime events.

I’ve been interested in the game since it was first revealed and it’s from the Remember Me devs so I’m optimistic. However I have to agree that it’s not a great trailer.

I’m a big Square Enix fan, but this looks pretty bad. I’m not interested in a game that has kotaku kissing its ass.

Could be a good movie, did anyone else get a Girl Who Leaped Through Time-vibe from it though?
