The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of the Rust Mountains premieres this October as part of the Fall 2023 anime season.
The series follows William G. Maryblood, a young man who was abandoned in the frontier. He’s taken in by three undead, the skeleton warrior Blood, the mummy priestess Mary, and the ghostly mage Augustus.
Together, the three raise William while watching over the seal of the High King, a powerful demon that the three sealed away when they were alive. As William grows older, encouraged by the goodliness of his adoptive parents he’s soon forced to say goodbye after swearing his life to Gracefeel, the goddess of flame and passing on.
It’s also an isekai but to be frank you could be forgiven for forgetting that and it stands on its own as a grounded fantasy series.
The second season follows William as he ventures with the dwarves of the Rust Mountains to defeat the evil dragon dwelling in their ancestral home. The miasma the dragon spews threatens to choke the life from the nearby forests, including Torchport, the frontier village William now leads.
