The Exit 8 live-action film announces main cast

The official website for TOHO’s live-action The Exit 8 film has revealed its main cast members, as well as a premiere set for this year’s Cannes Festival.

The new film, based on KOTAKE CREATE’s popular indie thriller/mystery game of the same name, will star Kazunari Ninomiya (pictured above) as the player character alongside Nana Komatsu in an unnamed role, and Kochi Yamato as the random man.

The Exit 8’s live-action film is being written and directed by Genki Kawamura (producer on Your Name, Suzume, etc) with original developer/writer KOTAKE CREATE writing and producing. Here’s some new visuals revealed for the film:

The previously announced film will follow the events of the horror-thriller game where the player is trapped in a Japanese subway station hallway that has an infinite loop. To escape, the player has to walk and look carefully for any strange anomalies.

A premiere for The Exit 8 is also set for the 78th Cannes Festival as part of its “Midnight Screenings” category.

The original game The Exit 8 has been available for Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5, and has been downloaded over 1.4 million times. Check out our review here!
