Kadokawa has announced the upcoming anime adaptation of The Eminence in Shadow will premiere sometime in 2022.

The Eminence in Shadow began as a light novel series in 2018 by writer-artist duo Daisuke Aizawa and Touzai. Minoru Kagenou is a typical student with delusions of grandeur (chuunibyou syndrome for you weebs), such that being transferred to another world is possibly the best thing to happen to him.

With newfound power and opportunity at his disposal, Minoru becomes the kind of person he always wanted to be: an “eminence in shadow”. As such, he works mostly as a mastermind wanting to appear intelligent and aloof, even if he has to lie now and then. The series was announced earlier this year by the publisher.
