The Elder Scrolls Online developer Zenimax Online Studios are working on a totally new game, alongside new technology to support the new title.
The news comes via new job postings on their official website, where the developer is seeking quite a lot of new staff to develop what they’re calling an “unannounced AAA title.” Furthermore, the new game will feature a totally new game engine.
Two of the job postings, one for Senior UI Engineer and the other for an Animation Engineer, both make it clear their primary role is to develop said unannounced AAA game.
The UI Engineer will build a “cutting-edge UI for the “new ECS-driven (Entity–component–system) game engine” for the game, while the Animation Engineer will develop a “robust in-game animation system” for the engine.
This naturally got fans excited and buzzing online, so one of Zenimax’s staff responded to the news. Alex Tardif, lead graphics engineer at ZeniMax, replied to a fansite posting about the jobs.
“Not much to say about this yet, but it’s been so much fun creating a brand new engine,” he said. “With how rare this kind of thing is nowadays, I feel fortunate to be at this studio while we invest heavily in our own technology.”
In related news, Bethesda confirmed that both Doom Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online are coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X – a free upgrade to owners of both games on current generation platforms like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
