Hot on the heels of Nintendo and FromSoftware announcing The Duskbloods, it seems the game may not be exclusive to Switch 2.
Their new multiplayer soulslike game was announced as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. However, a new reveal for the game has confirmed FromSoftware owns the rights to the game, not Nintendo.
A trademark for the name “The Duskbloods” was registered back on March 27th but made public today, confirming developer FromSoftware is the owner of the name.
The trademark being owned by FromSoftware leaves the door open for a non-Nintendo release. If the current game is co-funded by Nintendo, though, they may restrict the game to Switch 2 as a condition of funding its development.
We’ll likely never know the conditions on which Nintendo greenlit a new Bloodborne sequel in everything but name, however, FromSoftware owning the rights to its name means they can release sequels on other platforms.
The Duskbloods is in development for Nintendo Switch, though it won’t release until 2026.
