The Callisto Protocol was one of the most hyped titles to come out for 2022. However sales data show it’s also one of the biggest disappointments.
Reports have come out (via K-Odessey) that the game has heavily underperformed in the sales category.
It’s currently struggling to hit 2 million in sales, which sounds like a lot, but is merely a fraction compared to Samsung Securities’ initial estimate of it hitting 5 million.
Even the more conservative Korea Investment & Securities aimed for 4 million, lowering their target sales down to 2.1 million after dismal reports.
This is made even worse as the reported budget for the AAA release was roughly over $160 million. With these numbers, it’s looking that The Callisto Protocol will be a major financial flop for publisher KRAFTON.
We’ll likely see the true extent of these losses when the latter posts their quarterly financial results next month.
The Callisto Protocol is out now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). You can check out our review of the game here.
