One of my favorite movies with one of the most catchy scores is The Great Escape. The Breakout seems to catch that movies theme and feel to the T.
The Breakout is a game set in a WWII P.O.W. camps, and your goal as the player is to sneak, steal, build, and dig your way out of this high security prison.
You play as Lt. Guy Kassel. His plane has just been shot down behind enemy lines and now he is being held captive in the most feared P.O.W. camp. Guy must team up with a group of specialists and try to devise a plan to breakout so he can see his beloved fiancee again.
During the day you will be able to wander the camp. The player will have a chance to try to collect supplies, watch guards’ routines, discover new areas, and most importantly – gain trust from the other prisoners.
When night falls, the camp becomes your domain. You must sneak out of your cell, avoid being detected by spotlights, and steer clear of guards and dogs.
If you are caught at night you will lose all of your inventory and be put in the “cooler”. If you are caught trying to escape the perimeters of the camp, the guards will shoot you on site.
The Breakout is currently on kickstarter and is a project by London based Pixel Trip Studios. The game is going to be released for PC, Mac, and Linux.
The Breakout will be on kickstarter until Monday May 12th. Stop by and support there efforts to escape or visit the games official website.
