Publisher Dark Product and indie/solo developer Just Purkey Games have released The Axis Unseen for PlayStation 5.
The Axis Unseen is now available for PS5, via the PlayStation Store. The “heavy metal horror game” was originally released for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) back in 2024.
Here’s a rundown on the game:
The Axis Unseen is a heavy metal horror game created by one of the developers of Skyrim and Fallout.
Track down nightmarish creatures from folklore in a mysterious open world, steal their enhanced senses, and discover arrows with immense powers.
But beware—the hunter often becomes the hunted.
Features
- Track and hunt folklore monsters – Hunt creatures from folklore. Follow their footprints and blood trails. Watch the wind direction to avoid being detected by scent.
- Primitive metal as the soundtrack – The Axis Unseen features tracks by Clifford Meyer, iconic member of post-metal bands such as Isis and Red Sparowes. The soundtrack blends heavy metal with primitive instruments. The music dynamically adapts to the gameplay, transitioning between atmospheric melodies and more intense metal tracks.
- Sharpen your senses – Enhance your senses using the power of the creatures you hunt. Detect scent particles. Sense the heat creatures leave behind. Perceive colors no human has ever seen before.
- Unique arrows – Your bow and arrows are your best allies. Upgrade your bow and discover different types of arrows that control fire, wind, and even time. Experiment with their combinations—wind can spread fire faster, for example.
- Uncover the hunters’ secrets – Investigate the fate of hunters who came before you and uncover the secrets left behind in their journals and sketches. How did this strange world come to be? How can you stop its creatures from entering your world?
- The Axis Unseen is developed by Nate Purkeypile, who has been making games for over 18 years. His credits include Skyrim, Fallout 3, 4, and 76, Starfield, Metroid Prime 3, and BloodRayne 2. He was Lead Artist on Fallout 76, and Co-Lead/Lead Artist on Point Lookout, the Fallout 3 DLC.
