nDreams has announced their nebulous Playstation 4 project, which has been revealed as The Assembly, a Project Morpheus and Playstation 4 game.
The Assembly is described as a “mysterious virtual reality adventure game” built from the ground up for a VR headset. It will integrate many gameplay mechanics that are custom tailored to the headset.
“For example, you get to control two different characters at various points, and in VR, you really notice details like their different heights, sounds and voices,” nDreams CEO Patrick O’Luanaigh said over on the PlayStation Blog. “Rather than playing as a silent character, we found that playing the role of characters in the story works really well, and helps make The Assembly feel quite different to most other VR projects.”
The story within The Assembly is centered on the eponymous, underground society known as The Assembly, which is a secret collection of academics, engineers, scientists, and so on who believe the traditional morals and laws in society are holding back scientific progress. As such, they’re completely dedicated to uncovering the universal theory of everything, “at any cost.”
A demo for The Assembly is playable at E3 this week, and we’re hoping to get our hands on it today or tomorrow.
