The Alien-Hunting Predator is Confirmed for Mortal Kombat X

In February, the Predator and Colonel Al Dillion of the alien hunter franchise were rumored to be playable fighters in Mortal Kombat X. The Xbox Store page for the Mortal Kombat X Premium Edition has now outed at least one of them: the Predator.

The description for the Premium Edition reads, in part:

Stalk and slash your opponents as Horror Icon Jason Voorhees, or play as Predator, the Ultimate Hunter. Two Klassic Mortal Kombat characters complete the offer. Each playable character comes with a themed skin pack including three new skins for select characters.

The Predator first debuted in the original 1987 movie and a video game adaptation in the same year, and followed up with a sequel and more console games in 1990. Today, it is likely most fondly remembered from the Alien versus Predator crossover games, first-person shooters that squared human marines against the extraterrestrial hunters against Giger’s xenomorphs. The first of those FPSs launched in 1999, and a sequel, Alien versus Predator 2, was published in 2001 by Sierra.

The Predator is the second of the confirmed characters for the Kombat Pack DLC, alongside Jason Voorhees. That means the fighters yet to be revealed as part of the DLC will both be returning Mortal Kombat alumni. The Kombat Pack costs $29.99 if purchased separately.

Mortal Kombat X is coming to Windows PCs, Playstation 4, and Xbox One on April 14. Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions will follow in the summer.
